Episode TranscriptShow
Josh: The Daily Talk Show. It's a Daily Talk Show episode 900. What is happening, folks? What's going on?
Tommy: And it's Mr. 97's 21st birthday.
Josh: Happy birthday to you.
Tommy: Straight into it.
Josh: Happy birthday to you.
Tommy: Happy birthday, dear Sevz. Happy birthday to you.
Josh: Hip hip hooray!
Tommy: Hip hip hooray! We may sound a bit different because because we're all wearing masks. We're in the pandemic and, and, um, and yeah, so if you sound muffled or if we sound better, maybe that could be the feedback.
Josh: Pop filter.
Tommy: There's no more popping.
Josh: Yeah, we're not just in a pandemic, we're also in a park.
Tommy: Yeah, we're in a park. Pandemics and parks. And we're in, um, Edinburgh Gardens. We've got a spread that's beautiful. It's been rolled out. The full team is here. So right now, Grace, you're with us.
Grace: I am.
Tommy: Uh, we're gonna sub you out a little later on, but we want you up first. Georgie Boy is here, Jess Lucas is here, and they're going to jump in the hot seat. But, um, but first, Mason, how was your birthday, mate?
Mason: Oh, it's been great so far. Yesterday, yesterday Grace took me out, uh, and we, we did 21 things. She put a list together of 21 things that were my favourite things to do. And so, uh, we, we got up and we went and had our favourite breakfast food which is like an egg and bacon roll even though eggs play up with your tum tum do they?
Josh: no no no why didn't you have eggs the other day was that just—
Tommy: nah it could've been one off it's like Jess when she talks about eggs it could've been a one-off Grace just between us yeah was it hard to find 21 things? No I mean he's pretty fucking fussy they're very particular things okay yeah yeah Yeah, like a small goat, like rubbing the back of a small goat's ear.
Grace: So what was standing on one leg?
Josh: Yeah, yeah. So what were the 21 things? Can you give us at least 5?
Grace: There was like, uh, tending to his plants, so watering his plants and making sure they were all right.
Mason: The way you worded it was looking after your children.
Grace: Yeah, taking care of your babies. Okay, tending to your plants. Yeah. Um, we got to, uh, scroll on OzBargain because Mason loves to scroll. What else was that? Oh, He had it. We was eat a bliss ball.
Josh: It was a pretty low level shit. Any other chores?
Grace: Oh, what else was there? Oh, there was— oh, we did a 20-minute meditation.
Tommy: Yeah, nice.
Grace: That was good because baby loves the meditation. Yep. Um, and what—
Mason: there was, there was— Grace put one in there, put do a high-intensity interval training workout.
Tommy: Oh great, was that before the meditation or after?
Josh: We haven't done it yet.
Grace: We'll do this later. Yeah, yeah, but it's because, you know, His favourite runder Patrick says to do them.
Tommy: Yeah. So you've been occupying the whole weekend. It's a birthday weekend.
George: It is my birthday weekend.
Tommy: Yeah. Yeah. Great. Well, we're super proud of you, Mr. 97. We'll get to all the sort of lovelies later. But Josh, do you want to do the throw to what's been created?
Josh: Yeah. So Georgie Boy has been working nonstop on this video. He's actually doing a selfie.
Mason: He's taking a selfie.
George: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Grace: We didn't pay attention.
Josh: We love, we love a montage. We love a video. If you haven't noticed, even you saying TJ, we're in a pandemic is really just for in 10 years' time for the montage, isn't it? Oh yeah. And so this is a highlights package of Mr. 97 by Georgie Boy. Play it now, please.
George: 21 is a big deal.
Tommy: Let's just say there's some differences in laws in different countries.
George: Yeah, and that's pretty much the only real difference between 20 and 21. But what Mason has managed to achieve in the few years we've known him is the real difference between him and the regular 21ers. Well said, GB. That makes perfect sense.
Tommy: You know how I told you that I got an email from from a guy named Mason, and the subject line was, "I want to work for you for free, Tommy." I thought, perfect opportunity to exploit someone for free.
Josh: Mason!
Tommy: Mason! We need help! We've got Mason here, say hello.
Mason: Sup, how you going?
Josh: Mason, what was your, uh, interscore?
Mason: Yeah, 97.
Josh: 97?
George: 97.
Tommy: Have you had a girlfriend? No.
Josh: How are we gonna find someone?
Grace: Guys, welcome to Shameless. Shameless dating shows? He's progressive and he cooks.
Tommy: Oh, look at this!
Josh: Wow, wait.
Tommy: This is lovely.
Josh: Guess what Mr. 97 puts in his hair every single day? Coconut oil.
Grace: Can you actually look this up?
Tommy: Look it up, look it up, look up Kleenex, mate. Look that up.
Josh: We've got Mr. 97 on the phone. He is an Instagram influencer.
Tommy: Don't—
George: We've been there for a lot of his firsts.
Mason: Your first time.
George: First time drinking wine. First time emceeing an event.
Tommy: He's about to have a heart attack.
George: First chocolate egg.
Josh: Describe it.
Grace: Nice.
George: First coffee.
Tommy: This could go badly for him.
Josh: Okay, here we go.
George: First date. Why were you at the supermarket for your first date? And of course, first hair bleach.
Jess: Nice to meet you.
Tommy: Oh, he's gone in for a hug. Do you actually see like just The brown coming off.
Josh: You think that we're washing the brown out of your hair? 97's a celebrity.
Mason: That's crazy.
Tommy: What else?
Josh: What's another thing that you haven't done? Have you been to America before '97?
Mason: No, I've never been before.
Josh: Yeah, we did the edibles for the first time. Relax, what are you doing? 97 and I got drunk. What year were you born?
Mason: 1997.
Josh: How old are you?
Mason: 22.
George: Good one.
Tommy: The hardest working person in the Daily Talk Show team?
George: This kid. Working on a bunch of podcasts, he's learned a few new words.
Mason: Outrageous, dialled in. Why don't you lean into it?
George: But he still hasn't managed to learn a sense of humor.
Mason: Adam Sandler.
Grace: Andy.
Josh: Andy.
George: In all seriousness though, Mason has touched the lives of thousands of people. Geez, thousands is generous. The listeners absolutely love him. A couple, yeah, a few.
Tommy: Is it just my screen, guys, or is Grace and Mr. 97's mum next to each other?
Mason: Yeah, we got a message from Grace. Yeah, we got one from Grace. We got a message from Grace.
Josh: You speak to Grace for 5 hours, what do you talk about?
Tommy: Are you leading the conversation?
George: Josh.
Tommy: He's testing and learning.
Josh: This is an official invite to 97's birthday party.
Grace: I'll fly to Melbourne for the 21st! Mason who do you barrack for?
Josh: Oh let's see what he says— Fremantle Dockers, you fucked up!
Grace: Yeah really it is!
Josh: This is why I need to be on the call! You're a fucking idiot! What's up Sevs happy birthday mate. I thought we had a nice moment together actually in April this year when you and I both talked about being official with Tracee and Grace.
Mason: We're now dating!
Tommy: That's great!
Josh: Definitely happy to be in the shadows of the THE relationship from the Daily Talk Show, which is the Seb's and Grace story.
Mason: Yeah, so I mean, earlier this year I met this amazing girl.
Tommy: She lives in Perth.
George: Yeah.
Mason: Um, and she's been following the podcast for probably about 2 years now.
Josh: Grace is moving to Melbourne.
Mason: There's so much excitement.
Josh: I was nervous for him at the end. I mean, I just—
Tommy: I looked at a photo of him standing there, which Grace posted, and it's him with the flowers, and I just— I felt the feeling of what he might have been feeling in that moment.
George: I was like, oh, Congratulations.
Josh: I'm on, I'm totally on board with the reality series. And it was so cute.
Mason: Did you notice they held hands all the way?
Tommy: I know, it was so cute.
Grace: No, he's actually, he knows how to be a boyfriend, like a really good one.
Tommy: Happy birthday, Payson, 21. I can't believe you're only 21. That actually makes me feel revolting.
Grace: Just watching this, this sweet kid turn into this big old hunk of man.
George: I've seen how much hard work and how much you've developed and how much hard work you put into everything that you do. And it's seriously, you are, you know, a legend.
Tommy: I absolutely love working with you on my podcast, One Trick Tony, @onetricktonyshow on Instagram.
Josh: Couple of things to dial in, mate. Homemade peanut butter. Maybe get some hair product. It's called Beef's Butter. Happy 21st, Maze.
Grace: Hope you have a fantastic day.
Jess: Love your heaps, mate.
Josh: Happy birthday! How's the show? How's Mr. Noni 7 going?
Tommy: Oh, he's great. Do you know who Spencer is?
Jess: No.
Grace: Brodie? No.
Josh: Lauren Conrad?
George: No.
Josh: Oh yeah, whoa, are you okay? So yeah, 28 tomorrow. It's all about confidence. I want you to hold Gemma's hand. And so he had his hands under the dryer being like, can't be wet for Gemma. He's been staying up until 4 AM, so he's been coming onto the show looking absolutely horrendous.
Mason: Yeah, just a bit delusional but feeling great, to be honest.
Josh: Episode 900 might be on Mr. 97's 21st birthday. Now that's close. You've got to be big plans for it.
Tommy: We're at Mason's house in Balwyn, and he's been kind enough to let us do the episode from his lounge room. Mr. 97, absolute stellar job. Yeah, give him a clap. Yeah, another clap.
Josh: Hooray! Can we appreciate— not to make it about me— but systems and processes that allowed that montage. I said there episode 900 could be Mr. 97's 21st birthday. That was done before we started doing 2 episodes a day. The fact that I was able to predict that deserves another round of applause.
Grace: And your shirt as well!
Josh: Yeah, your shirt's great. For people who aren't watching the video, I've got a new shirt.
Tommy: And just one thing, if it wasn't for George putting in that grab, we wouldn't have got that bit in.
Grace: Well done, George. Thank you, George.
Mason: That was amazing.
Tommy: Um, how do you feel, Mason?
Mason: Very special. Yeah, I think, um, there's so much that's happened over the past, like, what, 2 years? And it's just— I've completely changed from the people that I've been around. And that's— yeah, I mean, I've got everyone to thank for the person I'm becoming, so Yeah, that's nice.
Josh: Are you worried about all the sun that you're getting hit by?
Mason: No, I'm okay. I've actually put on sunscreen, so I'm all right. Yeah, I did think about it though. I did think of it.
Tommy: Well, I've written a haiku. Um, M— no, I haven't.
Josh: Isn't that an acrostic poem?
Tommy: Well, I don't know. I thought a haiku was where you go through the letters, isn't it?
Grace: No, that's acrostic.
Josh: I think it's acrostic.
Grace: Yeah, and then a haiku is like 5 syllables and then 7 syllables.
Tommy: Jesus, having someone smart on the show for once.
Josh: I thought it was a taking over of a government. Having a coup.
Mason: That was a coup, yeah, yeah.
Josh: Government coup.
Tommy: No, but I want to say something nice, Sevs. It's— what's crazy is you don't know what will happen when you write an email or, you know, you start working somewhere or you start hanging out with certain people. But what we know from you being a part of what we're creating is that I don't think we could have done what we've done without you. Like, seeing you being in between Josh and I physically and actually metaphorically in moments that we've had tough stuff going on is like, you're definitely that divider that has allowed us to see things a bit more clearly. And your innocence and naivety, which is a good thing, just your young approach and ability to just put yourself out there has been so inspiring. We're so thankful to have you, mate.
Josh: And I think it's also— this is a nightmare.
Grace: Oh, baby's already crying. Oh God. Mason cried yesterday, it's okay.
Tommy: Mason did?
Jess: Yeah.
Josh: You did cry? Yeah. You know how we feel about you.
Mason: Keep it short.
Josh: Keep it short. Keep it short. Yeah. No, I think it's, you know, yeah, you talk about the young approach, but there's also like a maturity and a care for people. And yeah, I'm just really, I'm just happy that you're being part of the journey.
Mason: Thank you.
Tommy: Look, Josh is never going to have kids and you're the closest he's got. This is pretty amazing seeing his son grow up. But, um, yeah, you know we love you. We love you. And, um, a lot to be thankful for, Seb.
Mason: Yeah, thank you so much.
Tommy: Is there, um, anything, uh, you want to say now about us?
Josh: We are ready. I have a full breakdown. Um, no, so Gracia, what have you observed over your time with Mason?
Grace: Um, I just think he's like, he's just so open to everyone. And that's what I said to him yesterday, the fact that you're so open to everyone from different walks of life, no matter where they've come from. He's just so welcoming. And, um, and I think that's such a beautiful quality to have. Um, and he's so curious about people, and I love that. And even like, I mean, I think like before I met him, you know, my friends and everything. And then he's curious about my friends and he's curious about what I used to do back in Perth and everything. So I just think the fact that he's like that is beautiful.
Tommy: And it's just a great catch because then the kid thing, oh, like how he is with Bodhi makes me sick because I'm not even that good with my own son.
Josh: He also wants to meet all of Grace's exes as well. He actually does.
Tommy: Sorry, I missed that.
Grace: Mason wants to meet all my exes when we go back to Perth. Why? I don't know.
Mason: You just have a little catch-up.
Tommy: Just bizarre. Look, something, to be honest, something more impressive than the personal growth you've made is your rig.
Josh: It's grown.
Mason: It's big.
Tommy: Like even just in that highlights package, if you watch it, you were skinny. Now you've got a real chest on you. It's what we look for in employees.
Grace: He hasn't made me those nachos that he made you guys yet.
Josh: Quinoa. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mason: If you want it, to be honest.
Grace: It's your specialty, so.
Tommy: Not to sort of lead away from you, Mason, but right now I can see, right now we're in the park and you can see police patrolling because there's only meant to be small groups of people and you're meant to keep your distance. And what a bizarre time.
Grace: Yeah.
Tommy: I mean, we were gonna have this in a hall. It was gonna be a big party.
Josh: Boyscouts, yeah.
Tommy: And it's actually worked out perfectly for Josh.
Josh: Yeah, that's crazy. And yeah, go on.
Tommy: I was just going to say, um, we don't want to kick you out, Grace. We'd love you to stay here.
Grace: No, there's other people that need to be here.
Tommy: Well, we've got, um, who would you, who would you like? I'm going to put it on to Jess, Grace, because I don't want to—
Mason: what, Jess?
Tommy: I don't want to pick. Who would you like?
Grace: I was going to say Jess, but she just sat down.
Josh: It's also Georgie Bear.
Tommy: All right, Georgie Bear.
Grace: Should we sanitise this?
Tommy: Yeah, yeah, great. We actually do have some hand sanitization products. Glad we clarified that.
Grace: Yeah, just, you know, COVID safe.
Mason: Because you could just get some sanitizer and just lube your hands up and rub them on.
Grace: Lube your hands.
Josh: There we go.
Grace: Yeah, yeah, perfect. Coin that term.
Tommy: You know, we know that other podcasters are looking to take down other podcasters when it comes to making sure that we have sanitised and we're out of here. Yep, George is sanitised up.
Grace: Drink, thank goodness.
Tommy: Thank you.
Josh: Little kiss.
Mason: Little kiss.
Josh: Little kiss.
Tommy: So George, um, We just need you to say a few nice things about Mason.
Josh: Okay, if you can manage it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
George: No, honestly, like, working with you this year is just like— I've learned so much from you, and you are always such a positive, positive guy, even when, you know, your workload is, is insane.
Josh: It's not that bad. You're doing so good. Prioritization.
George: You're doing so much and it's inspiring to watch. And most importantly, just a nice guy to hang out with and a great friend. And, um, and I had something else, I can't remember what else.
Josh: Was it the shirt? Was it the shirt?
George: Yeah, nice shirt. That's Uniqlo.
Josh: Yeah, yeah. It's your shirt, isn't it?
George: No, but honestly, like, you're just, you're a great guy. And to, for a 21-year-old to have done like 800 episodes of a podcast. Doesn't make sense, but you've somehow managed to do it. And, and you just— yeah, don't know what else to say. Making that montage was an absolute pleasure, and it was so fun to look back and see all the great things that you've done.
Mason: Oh, thanks, Jimmy.
George: And, uh, and I wish I could, uh, do some of those fun things one day.
Tommy: Oh, you want to go to America? Because that was pretty fun.
Josh: That was—
Tommy: I mean, last year this time for your birthday That footage in that video was from Santa Monica. We're at Cheesecake Factory, was it? Yes. Yeah.
Josh: Did you get the burrito as well? The grande?
Mason: The big— that was a big burrito.
Josh: Yeah.
Tommy: We both got a big burrito that was vegetarian. Josh, you were a vegetarian back then.
Josh: Yeah, well, the one I think that you guys had wasn't. I have a feeling that I— because remember they said, not to get too much into the weeds, but I think they said that it wouldn't make a good vegetarian one.
Tommy: That's right.
Grace: Yeah.
Josh: But you guys had it.
Tommy: No, we got the chicken one. No, no, we got chicken.
Grace: Yeah.
Tommy: And that's why we didn't get it.
Mason: You got the impossible.
Josh: Oh, that's right.
Tommy: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
Josh: Look, it had cheese on it.
Tommy: There was no, there was no thought of a pandemic back then. I didn't even know. I mean, I don't know what a haiku is, let alone a pandemic, to be honest.
Josh: I've actually got a bit where I say about COVID last year. No, yeah, predicting it.
George: So just for context, that was episode 301, if anyone's wondering.
Mason: Really?
Josh: 301?
George: Which was where I said JJ mentioned it. 21st birthday.
Tommy: Wow.
George: Wow, episode 900. That is crazy.
Tommy: Can you predict, Josh, something right now?
George: Episode 1500.
Mason: What's happening?
Josh: 1500? I think we're on a boat. In episode 1500, uh, Mr. 97 and Grace will be engaged by episode 1500. Oh my God, it's only, uh, it's less than a year.
George: Not to get, not to get too dark or anything, but here we go.
Josh: I do worry, like, we could all be dead.
George: There's so much amazing footage of you and Grace, and you've only been going out for like a few months. Like, if you break up in a couple of months, a lot of it is on record.
Mason: Well, this was the whole thing, because I remember just like, it was never actually a thought when Grace did come over to Perth— oh, to come over to Melbourne from Perth. But it was looking back, it's like, oh my God, like, what if something went— like, what if that first week at Rod's beach house didn't go well. Imagine explaining that.
Josh: If I only had one toilet.
Tommy: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
George: Good story, I know Josh wouldn't be complaining.
Josh: Yeah, I mean GB would do a great breakup montage. Just a slight change in the music. Yeah, yeah, not to get too dark.
Tommy: I feel like you haven't had a moment to stop and think about whether you're okay with us always putting you on camera. It's— you're just in the middle of it. Is there anything looking like like thinking now compared to 3, 4 years ago before we even knew that you would be willing to put yourself out there, even just like your personal life out there as much as you are now?
Mason: Yeah, I mean, I never did that. Like, I was never on Instagram. Like, I probably uploaded like 2 photos. Still not really. That's fair. But like, I probably uploaded 2 photos in like a 6-year period. Weird. But I don't know, it feels like there's something completely different about it doing it now and just on a different medium, being a podcast.
Tommy: Like, it could be the contract we made you sign. No, we haven't.
Josh: I don't have contracts.
Tommy: Can you look down the barrel of the camera and say that we have rights to all your footage?
Mason: No, but I think, yeah, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm so proud of everything that we've put out and everything that we've done that, yeah, I wouldn't have it any other way. And what we've shared and what we've done, I wouldn't, I wouldn't change a thing.
Tommy: Um, just walking back, George, your 21st, what did you do? Because you're— what are you, 27 now?
Josh: Yeah, uh, it's my birthday in a week, by the way, guys. Mason will be doing the montage.
George: I'm turning 27, so I'm 26 now. Um, what did I do for my 21st? Oh, it was He's just, just went out and like just got hammered.
Tommy: More worried about the quality of the cocaine.
George: Like the difference between me at 21 and you at 21 compared to this guy at 21.
Tommy: Yeah, I know.
George: It's, yeah, all the time. And Mason's gonna have his first G&T today, which is nice. I was actually thinking now that you're 21, you're banned from drinking Gordon's.
Josh: Gordon's is great.
George: It's the shittest gin.
Mason: No, it's perfect.
George: Sorry, Gordon's.
Tommy: George has a lot to say about that. I mean, gin.
Josh: Mr. 97 is the gin guy, so I don't know, GB, like, what makes you think that you know more about gin than the extra years you've had on this earth? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Only the amount of consumption.
George: I've had a fair few different gins, I don't wanna brag.
Josh: Was there, GB, when you're looking through all the footage, was there anything that didn't make the montage or any sort of insights from going back from all looking at all that stuff?
George: Um, no, I think that's pretty much everything. I mean, a lot of them, like, I remember as bits rather than just kind of going through and finding random things where you mentioned or whatever. It's like a lot of those moments are great memories for me as a listener. So yeah, I think like it was all in there. The bleaching, that was good. My favourite line was when you thought that the brown was getting washed out of your hair.
Mason: It felt like it.
George: How?
Mason: I don't know, it just felt like it was all coming off.
George: Yeah, yeah, right.
Josh: But I also love like Angelo from Ventra IP.
Mason: I know.
Josh: Yeah, one of, you know, one of our partners and supporters. And even, you know, you can see the relationships that you're able to build with not only, you know, the team, but also the partners and everyone that's surrounding the show, I think, is testament to your ability to connect with people. And I think that that's the biggest misconception about you, is that, you know—
Tommy: Is this the one the Daily Mail ran?
Josh: Sounds like everyone's got it. I think the misconception is that you're socially awkward or that you lack social skills. Or that you lack social skills. You know, like, you know, lack social skills.
Tommy: One of the things that Mason did say when he first started with us, and you said, I want to, I said, you said something like, I want to be more like you, talk to me, but like more so, you said something around the social element. And I've never really seen you as an awkward guy at all. I see you as someone who's composed in situations where you are in a social situation. And like Josh said, less is more. You don't do that at scale, but any time that you do have a relationship with somebody, it is so strong. Like it is so all those elements that Josh was crying behind his mask about is exactly what you do with everybody, not just Josh, me, George, but it's everybody except I'm not getting the love that Grace gets. I'm pissed about that.
Josh: I am. No wonder you're crying. Uh, JB, uh, thank, uh, thank you for joining. Yeah, I think we'll sub out for Jess now. Jessica, please.
Tommy: Uh, Jess Lucas, um, see you at the picnic rug. Oh, here we go. That's a good sign.
Mason: Maybe just put it down on the seat.
Tommy: Yeah, yeah, just put it just here.
Mason: That's all right.
Josh: He's panicked. JB's panicked.
Tommy: It is nice to be out. I mean, this is the first time that I've been to a park like this in— since, since this year.
Josh: I don't know, really, you haven't been going to parks?
Tommy: No, no, but as in the— like a picnic with this many people around, like it feeling like the old days before COVID Yeah, I mean, it has the vibe of like a, um, Europe or something.
Josh: Like, doesn't it remind you of like the parks in London?
Tommy: What's the big one?
Mason: Hyde Park.
Josh: Oh, here we go. Oh, here we go. Oh, doing happy birthday. Are we doing it again or no?
Mason: Oh, thank you. Okay, hang on, I'll say it afterwards.
George: It is—
Josh: there isn't a fire fire band today. So Jess has just brought out a cupcake with sparklers. Jess, welcome to the show.
Jess: Thank you.
Josh: What would you—
Jess: Hey, Melbourne.
Tommy: Obviously, Jess is a bit nervous.
Jess: I'm nervous.
Tommy: This is the thing. We've done podcasts in so many different places. This is probably the most people, but I feel like they don't give a shit about us.
Jess: I literally can't see you.
Tommy: Can you hold my hand?
Josh: I'm literally shaking. It is.
Tommy: I need sanitizer.
Mason: I will say though, I appreciate how loud you did the happy birthday at the start because that was almost obnoxious.
Josh: I can't hear anything because I've got headphones on.
Mason: It was so loud.
Josh: But the thing is, Jess, if it makes you feel any better, I don't think anyone's looking, not even our own picnic. They're having their own conversation.
George: Yeah, fair.
Josh: What has it been like working with Mr. 97? What have you observed over the last few months?
Jess: Um, I just think for someone who has just turned 21, you're so far advanced in your career. I'm slightly jealous of how far in your career you are. Um, you're incredibly intelligent, that's for sure.
Josh: Just one of the things, like, you are true to form. You say always bring a lighter wherever you go, and you've got your lighter. I know, I know.
Jess: You always need a lighter. And girls, can I just say, it's a great dating trick. Like, if a guy comes up to you and they ask you for a lighter, you can be like, yeah, he's very— and it's an opportunity to start a conversation.
Grace: Is that a good filter to find guys.
Mason: Are the guys that need a lighter the ones that you want to meet?
Tommy: Is the follow-up, do you have a mate that doesn't smoke, you putrid piece of shit?
Josh: No, just only date smokers.
Jess: I mean, I'm not going to rule them out. Slim pickings at the moment, isn't it?
Josh: Vaping's okay.
Mason: Slightly annoying from a health insurance point of view.
Tommy: What is smoking?
Mason: Well, because you're going to have to deal with like lung cancer and shit down the line.
Tommy: This is why we love Mason, who's thought about one of the reasons he doesn't smoke is for health insurance.
Jess: Yeah, but I can confirm Josh isn't wearing sunscreen on his face right now.
Mason: And he's in the shade.
Jess: Thankfully the sun moves, doesn't it? He wasn't at the start. Gemma Watts isn't going to be happy.
Josh: No, she won't be. But what else, Jess, do you have you learned from Mace or what have you seen over the last few months?
Jess: I'm just really grateful that every time you or I have a question about the dumbest shit, like, how do I find the video section on YouTube? What else have I asked?
Grace: You?
Jess: Oh, there's a lot on Simplecast. How do you do the analytics again? I've got it down pat now. I feel like I'm all right now.
Tommy: He's a great teacher. That's one thing that we've identified. Yeah, Seb's— he's got the patience and, um, and the communication skills. I think that's where you actually thrive when you're needing to be very clear about how to do something. Yeah, that's where you kill it.
Jess: Very impressive, Mason. Well done.
Tommy: That's where you kill it. Um, I mean, we didn't even have to do a montage for for the episode 900 that we're also celebrating, because what, what that montage of Seb's was, was a montage of where we've gone, because you've been there for every moment that we've had on camera, at least.
Jess: Yeah, I know, I'm jealous. I've missed out on so many things. Like, I wonder who the next employee is going to be, and like, they're going to look back on our time.
Josh: Would you get your hair bleached for the show, Jess?
Jess: Yeah, for sure. Oh really? Yeah, I want to go blonde.
Josh: You just What do you think? For a free Joey Scandizzo mention.
Jess: Yeah. Hey Joey, I haven't been out of Book In just yet. Have you seen these ants?
Josh: Mase, what do you think for your 30th? What should we do for your 30th?
Mason: Oh, the 30th. That's gonna, I don't know. That's so far away. I might have kids by 30. Yeah. I reckon I'll definitely have kids by 30. 30.
Josh: Great. Um, Traeger grill.
Mason: Yeah, we could do a big grill. Yeah, we could have a big grill.
Josh: Do you think we'll all be vegetarian by then?
Mason: Because, you know, like, everyone's grilling eggplants. Yeah, I don't know.
Josh: What do you dream of? What do you think? Paint the picture.
Mason: Paint the picture. I'd be lovely to have like a, like an everyone around at a, like a lovely house and it's like a barbecue vibe with fiber. With fiber, yeah, absolutely. Fiber, big TVs, lovely kitchen. And then there's just, yeah, there's just everyone at BMC, and we've got like, yeah, just a bunch of people around just drinking gin. Yeah, a lot of gin.
Jess: Drink wine at that point so we can actually like decant a bottle and enjoy it, maybe.
Mason: Yeah, I think just, just having, having everyone I love around would be it.
Tommy: It's getting wild scenes here at the park, guys. Um, I mean, let's, let's skim over the, um, steps challenge that has wrapped up yesterday. We don't need to go to such a negative place. Yes, we'll not leave it there.
Josh: Not looking good. Jess, you want to at least mention how many steps you've done? How many steps have you done?
Jess: I didn't do my homework.
Grace: Classic.
Tommy: Well, honestly, I'm not even wearing my watch, so I'm not—
Jess: nothing yesterday or today.
Tommy: Happened. On Instagram, we'll post what the, um, tallies are. Yeah, who won it. Yeah, in the most negative sense.
Jess: Let's place bets. I'll go first. Um, I think Tommy.
Mason: I think it's pretty clear.
Josh: Yeah, I think the only person who's brought it up is Tommy. This is the testosterone all over again.
Jess: I feel like it's a close second between Mace and I. And unfortunately, Josh, you are always going to be last in my head.
Tommy: No, I reckon George might have lost it.
Josh: Yeah, yeah.
Jess: Oh yeah, okay.
Josh: Doing the edits. Anyone that's been doing those sorts of edits. Is that a cop out on you?
Jess: I had my dad's 60th video edit, okay? So we've all had edits to do this week.
Tommy: No, we will announce those, but not here, not here. We don't want to bring it down. We've still got the rest of the day to get through.
Josh: But, um, JB, before we finish up, uh, there is a— there's a little bit of a, uh, a thing that I like to do on my birthday, and it's have a piece of salami. Will you finish off by eating a piece of salami on the show?
Tommy: Oh, that is nice. So it's something Josh has been doing since he was—
Josh: how old was he? He was like, uh, no, 12. Am I having the salami before the cake? Oh yeah, yeah, before. Do you want me to hold the cake?
Tommy: Yeah, yeah, he's just gonna finish off.
Mason: I'm glad GB, you took that tell fast.
Josh: Okay, great.
Tommy: So just a piece of salami. Just grab one. So straight in, straight in.
Josh: Okay, hang on. And then, and then once you've finished it, give us a wish.
Mason: This is real hot salami, isn't it?
Tommy: Have you ever had salami?
Josh: Yeah. It's all right.
Jess: I'd hope so.
Josh: My wish? Yeah, your wish.
Tommy: Um, talk us through the salami.
Mason: It's quite spicy. It's not too—
Josh: what is it?
Mason: Is it meant to be really, really hot?
Josh: Well, we're just eating it before and I said that's really hot, I think it will be too hot for Mason, so we just—
Tommy: no, no, no, this is okay. Oh, you really have grown up.
Josh: This is really 21. This is growth. But make a wish. What's Actually, you can't tell us because it won't come true. That's part of the salami, the wish.
Tommy: And also want to say thank you to everyone who's been listening. We had our biggest month of downloads ever last month. You know, it's taken a fair while to get there.
Josh: It's a fucking lot of episodes.
Tommy: But thanks for everyone who's been listening. We love you. We absolutely love you.
Josh: Thanks everyone. It's the Daily Talk Show. If you like the show, make sure you share it on social media. Media. Happy birthday, Mace. We'll see you tomorrow. Have a good one.
Jess: See you guys.
