Tommy: The Daily Talk Show.

0:04

Josh: It's The Daily Talk Show, episode 700.

0:09

Tommy: And never do that kind of an intro again, mate. That was a bit creepy to celebrate 700, but we got there. We absolutely got there. Thought we were starting with ASMR, but yeah, I don't know. Happy Sunday, boys.

0:21

George: Happy—

0:21

Josh: I'm just trying to keep calm, you know. You just want to— you don't want to blow, as Casey said in the comments, blow your load too early. And I feel the excitement, I feel the jitter. I'm feeling ready.

0:32

Tommy: You showed me, is that coffee? Have you had coffee though?

0:35

Josh: I'm a little bit, no, I've got even like the clammy hand thing happening. I think it's like, I actually feel I'm having a visceral response to episode 700. Really? My feet are sweating.

0:48

Tommy: Yeah. Knees weak, arms are—

0:50

Josh: Yeah, or maybe I've just got a bit of coronavirus. Maybe I'm slowly dying on the show. Find out by the end of it what's gonna happen.

0:57

Tommy: Did you drink last night? 'Cause that can happen.

1:01

Josh: No, but I did, no, but I did, I've been eating sort of excessively 'cause we're doing a reset tomorrow.

1:09

Mason: I mean, you sent me a GIF of, what was it? Was that Simpsons? Is that what it was?

1:14

Josh: Yeah, Homer Simpson and his donuts. He's just got his mouth sort of going in. And it was actually inspired from Gronklara, who she did an Insta storey and she said, it was something along the lines of, isolation, um, you don't have to lose weight in isolation. And I was like, you know what, like, that's a sign. And so we had, um, an ice cream sandwich in the freezer and, um, I had that for breakfast.

1:43

Tommy: Yeah, yeah, breakfast. Sorry, shit, that just went over my head.

1:46

Josh: Yeah, yeah, no, it was delicious. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:49

Mason: Hang on, didn't she have one as well? I called you last week.

1:52

Josh: Yeah, so we had two. Bree didn't have hers. And she was going for a morning walk and I whispered into her ear, I said, "How do you think, what do you think about the ice cream sandwich?" She's like, "Yeah, sure, go for it." And so, you know, giving ourselves a break, feeling happy, tomorrow's a new day.

2:13

Tommy: Yeah, no, it's good. Well, happy 700, boys. It's been a, how long? Over 2 years. There's been a lot of episodes in the last, month and a half, however long we've been in isolation. 12 a week. George, how are you feeling?

2:28

George: Yeah, I'm feeling good. Yeah, my heart's racing a little bit actually. I'm a bit pumped. Um, to celebrate, I brought 7-Up.

2:36

Josh: Wowee!

2:37

George: Because it's blowing out.

2:38

Tommy: What's that for?

2:39

Josh: What are they branding? Also the— oh, 7-Up 700.

2:43

George: 7-Up.

2:44

Josh: Is that, is that the joke?

2:46

George: That was the joke. That was the the idea. It's a 1.25-liter, it's lukewarm.

2:52

Josh: So can we just point out the cutlery, TJ, before the— no, no, no, it's fine. No, keep it on.

2:57

Tommy: I love it.

2:58

Josh: I think it's great. I think it's very funny.

2:59

Mason: It's a bit of ambience noise.

3:00

Tommy: It was on time. They said, it's very funny that cutlery will start going.

3:05

Josh: And how many knives and forks do you use?

3:07

Tommy: He's actually been very helpful around the house.

3:09

Josh: So no, we appreciate it.

3:11

Tommy: Yeah, it's usually right on time. Right on time.

3:13

Josh: Where is that 7-Up from? I feel like it's a sort of standard supermarket, doesn't it?

3:17

George: Okay. New Coles. Went to the new Coles in Brunswick, if anyone's interested.

3:23

Mason: Oh really? What's it like?

3:24

George: Yeah. Oh, it's just new.

3:26

Mason: It's, uh, metro vibes, like real clean.

3:29

George: Yeah, yeah, real metro vibes. The floor is super smooth, so you get the trolley and it's just like nice to ride around on. And the conveyor belts are nice and clean.

3:39

Josh: How much do you need to buy to get a trolley versus just getting a basket? I don't think I've used a trolley in about 7 years.

3:46

George: We spent $120. Just got like—

3:49

Tommy: that's all right—

3:50

George: veggies and a few—

3:52

Mason: you'd need a trolley for $120, mate.

3:55

Tommy: The problem is, the problem is Coles in Bulleen has free trolleys. Woolworths in Templestowe, suburb across, you gotta pay a buck. Or you get the buck back, but who has a buck? Yeah, I don't carry any cash ever. Literally, I found $5 and I bought a coffee and donated the rest of the cash that it got back to me. I just put it into the thing because I didn't want it in my pocket.

4:18

Josh: Like, I feel like that whole system didn't work, don't you think? Like that, that whole— like they tried to do that dollar thing.

4:25

Tommy: Still pushing it, dude.

4:26

George: A lot of supermarkets still do it. Oh my goodness, like a $2 coin. Yeah, you just put into the—

4:32

Josh: do you buy that?

4:33

Tommy: Is that about how many keys you've got? You've got very little. No, you've got a little, little amount of keys.

4:39

Mason: Okay. Oh yeah, you've only got a couple.

4:41

George: House key. Letterbox key, office key.

4:44

Mason: Makes a lot of noise.

4:46

Josh: It does, doesn't it?

4:47

George: And the Woolworths key, holding it next to the mic.

4:49

Josh: Talking about the keys, I mean, throwing back to some of our favourite memories, I've got to say the keyring cult. Squeegee keyring cult. How's yours looking?

5:01

Tommy: Within reach?

5:02

Josh: No, no, it's at the front of the house, so I don't— forget it.

5:07

Tommy: Yeah, that was great. Mine's, mine's all sort of chipped. It was white. If I, you know, I probably got the worst colour out of them all, to be honest, but that's okay.

5:17

George: That's okay. I appreciate it.

5:18

Josh: A little, a little bit worse for wear, but I think that's part of the whole thing. It sort of feels like the, um, there's a Japanese word for it. It's like when things age over time or whatever. It's like the natural— I'm pretty sure it's related to the dorodango stuff. No, but it's like, you know how you can like, if you break something and you put it together, the imperfections is what makes it brilliant.

5:39

Tommy: Yeah, you want something a bit worn. It's like a good old sports bar. You can't just make one and walk in and go, this feels old. Yeah, because it will be brand new.

5:48

George: It's like a house.

5:49

Tommy: It's this house that we're in. Hey, should we just talk about what we're going to be doing? Okay, 700. Uh, I mean, you wanted to go yesterday so hard, Josh.

5:58

Mason: Yeah, so you definitely can't take this load away from Josh.

6:01

Tommy: Yeah, absolutely not.

6:03

Josh: No, I'm happy to.

6:04

Tommy: It's his load to blow.

6:06

Josh: You know, it's smutty. What time did you go to sleep last night?

6:12

Mason: 4 o'clock as well. Yeah, it shows. No, no, I'm just, yeah, just a bit delusional but feeling great, to be honest.

6:18

Josh: Really? Do you think you've become more smutty since getting a girlfriend? I feel like potentially.

6:23

Mason: Absolutely, yeah. I reckon I'm consistently delusional now. Just a couple, like late nights.

6:31

Tommy: Delirious. Delirious is the word. Yeah, a bit of both. You are delusional to think that was the word. Yeah, I'm just delirious from the tiredness.

6:43

Mason: Yeah, it's, it's, it's almost like being a bit pissed. That's, that's the sort of vibe that I'm feeling.

6:51

Tommy: You've hit it spot on, man. They say like lack of sleep and driving is the equivalent of being blowing like over 0.05 or something. Like it's saying tiredness behind the wheel is like being drunk. So you're spot on, but you just don't drive because you don't have your license. So we're all a bit safer today because Mr. 97 hasn't got his P's yet.

7:10

Josh: So thanks, buddy. Um, okay, so the announcement on Friday, May 1st, put it in your calendars because at 7 AM sharp, that's Melbourne Eastern standard time, 7 AM on Friday, we will be starting our 24-hour stream. George, play the motion graphics you made.

7:38

George: Oh, um, what do you got?

7:43

Mason: You got something?

7:44

Josh: I thought you would— you got a graphic?

7:46

Mason: Did you not?

7:47

Josh: Have you not done— what about the 700 highlights? Have you got 700 highlights?

7:52

George: Oh yeah, roll that, roll that.

7:54

Josh: No, I haven't got it yet. Have you not done it?

7:57

George: There's no highlights package, I'm so sorry.

8:00

Tommy: We were waiting for it. At least spray that bottle of 7-Up all over your house.

8:05

Josh: No, I mean, I thought this was the whole— it's one of those things where you just sort of assume that you're gonna surprise us. You do your hump day replay every week.

8:18

Mason: A bit of initiative would have been nice, to be honest, George.

8:21

George: Yeah.

8:21

Tommy: Oh, he's fired up too, Sevs.

8:24

Josh: I like this, Sevs.

8:26

Tommy: Seb's got some balls on him now. What's the difference between—

8:30

Josh: yeah, I don't want to get bogged down. The 7-Up, very quickly, difference between Mountain Dew and 7-Up. Do you know the difference?

8:36

Tommy: Different brands, different drinks.

8:38

George: It's very sweet.

8:40

Tommy: Yeah, there's a great taco. One's like lemonade and the other's like a, like a, yeah, different kind of one.

8:48

George: 10 grams, 10.9 grammes of sugar per 100ml.

8:52

Josh: Also, there's a great doco. There's a thing in South Carolina called "Ju-Jaw," which is people's jaw, like teeth rotting due to Mountain Dew. And so they actually have, they followed around like a mobile dentist that would go and fix everyone's teeth. It's a real problem.

9:13

Tommy: It's absolutely horrendous.

9:15

Josh: So, TJ, what are you excited about for this?

9:17

George: So, the 24 hours.

9:19

Tommy: Yeah, so 24 hours, we're going to be live streaming from 7 AM till 7 AM. That's— it's a long time, guys. I haven't done an all-nighter in many years, at least an all-nighter without, you know, excessively drinking or something, which you end up just happen to do an all-nighter, but it wasn't on— it wasn't planned. So this is a planned one. But, um, yeah, it's going to be great. We've We're gonna have lots and lots of interviews, people getting involved with the show. Ryan John, who, Gronk of the show, he said to me last week when I told him about this, he said, "Oh yes, can you guys like set me a challenge? I'll do something across the 24 hours and you can cheque in with me." He's just given me an update. Haven't written back to him yet. He messaged me this morning. It's too early, I was still asleep, 9:57. He said, "I know what my challenge is. I think you'll like it." I'll struggle with it, Josh will fucking hate it. So that sounds like that's a winning combination.

10:18

Josh: What does it mean Josh hates it? What's it— what could that possibly be?

10:21

Tommy: Josh will fucking ha— yeah, I don't know.

10:23

Josh: But let's have a go. What do we think it could be? Oh, he's going to try and finish the Seth Godin book.

10:29

Mason: That's quite funny. In 24 hours. 24 hours, you could get this.

10:33

Josh: Yeah, I would actually like that because it's sort of— it's related to me.

10:36

Tommy: We tried that. What would What wouldn't you like? I don't know.

10:42

Josh: What could it be?

10:42

Tommy: Do you want to call him? Have you got your phone plugged in? Do you want to just ask him? Because he said, he then followed up with, can we lock in a time on Monday or Tuesday morning for me to come on the show to talk?

10:52

Josh: Let's do it by the end of the show.

10:53

Tommy: Let's do it. Yeah, we'll do it by the end of the show. And we'll just see. Have you got his number at your end? Because I can send it to you.

10:58

Josh: Yeah, I've got his number. And so also I was chatting with Hamish Blake. He's going to join us. We don't— he's going to do something. There is going to be some level of activity as part of the whole thing, but he'll be joining us during the 24 hours.

11:14

Tommy: And then across this week, we're going to have a whole bunch of other people locked in, uh, you know, as we like to fly by the, the seam of our pants.

11:23

George: Is that the word?

11:24

Tommy: Is that the correct way? Flying by the seam of our pants.

11:28

Josh: George, see, see Wait, let's, uh, same. Is by the seat of your pants. I think it's seat of your pants, to be honest. Um, TJ, I'm sure that I saw fly by the seat of your pants.

11:45

Tommy: Yep, yep, yep.

11:46

George: Seat.

11:47

Josh: Uh, what is it? What does it mean? I mean, it's been a while since you've done a—

11:51

Tommy: yeah, yeah, fly by the seat of your pants, to proceed or work by feel or instinct without formal guidelines or experience, i.e., unorganised and you're just winging it.

12:03

Josh: I mean, the chat is blowing up.

12:05

Mason: We're relying on instinct.

12:06

Josh: That's what it is. Showbaker, Lyndon, Crystal, Scooter, Lara, they're all saying seat. So they all knew that.

12:14

George: They didn't care much about the 700, the 24-hour.

12:18

Tommy: That's okay.

12:19

George: That's okay. Yeah.

12:20

Josh: That's definitely jansoned it. What they've worked out out of this whole thing is that we've fucked the saying. That's okay.

12:27

Tommy: Yeah, but I mean, people love calling out people, so there'll be lots of call-outs you can do across 24 hours because you will be able to get involved with the show.

12:36

Josh: Well, that's what we're talking about, is what we'll need— there's going to be a bunch of technical stuff. So if you are someone that's— it could be, you could have any skill. You could be technical, you could even just, um, have a cool view. If you have a cool view anywhere in the world that you'd be happy to lend to us in the way of you, uh, pointing a camera in that direction, if you can email us, or if you're, if you're a VIP Gronk, just send me a WhatsApp message. But, um, if you're not, go to hi@thedailytalkshow.com and send an email. You know, you don't go to Hi@TheDailyTalkshow, you just put it in your little, the to field, you know. Um, so there's an email through your email client or Gmail or Hotmail or whatever you're using.

13:19

Tommy: I can know the most unfair advantage, Josh, that Seb's has is that he's been in training for some kind of a late night stint anyway. Like the kids up till 4 AM, just push it through.

13:31

Mason: I've only got to push it, yeah, 3 hours. I've just got to push through another 3 hours and I'm sweet.

13:36

Josh: You're doing essentially right now polyphasic— I think it's called polyphasic sleep. Have you heard about this?

13:42

Tommy: What, what does that mean?

13:43

Josh: So polyphasic, um, you Yeah, go on.

13:46

Mason: Multiple, multiple times a day, right? Like you're having this, you're having like a nap at your 3 PM slump and then you're pushing through. And I don't know how, I mean, it's all like a Silicon Valley thing.

13:57

Josh: Yeah, if you're napping, like basically a bunch of the like engineers and stuff would do it as a way of trying to, um, get more time out of their day. So they would, um, yeah, you would basically sleep in like, I think you do a, a time between 2 and like 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM, and then you wake up and then you do 20-minute naps. Matt Mullenweg did it a bunch.

14:19

Tommy: I think that's just Glyn on Friday night drinks when he has to wake up in Florida to join in on us. So let's just set some of the fundamental rules of the 24-hour before we talk specifics. Zero sleep is allowed between the three of us. Josh, Mr. 97 and I. And George, does he get any sleep?

14:44

Josh: Well, I spoke to Karen. She's asked that he gets some sleep. We're under strict instructions that baby needs some sleep.

14:50

Mason: Baby needs to sleep.

14:52

Josh: So she said that you need 7 hours minimum.

14:56

George: Okay, I'm happy with that.

14:57

Josh: So that should give you a bit of time.

14:59

Tommy: So that's fair. So we're not allowed to have any sleep. Is that right, Josh?

15:03

Josh: Yeah, that's fine.

15:04

Tommy: No sleep.

15:05

Mason: Okay, that's fine.

15:06

Josh: And so what a lot of people are probably wondering is what's going to happen with Friday night drinks, which I think is exactly what Lara's wanting to know. Lara, yeah, it's all fine. What we are doing is, so Friday night drinks will happen as it normally does, so it will happen in Zoom and we'll bring it all in. But then what happens with kick-ons? Kick-ons historically has gotten extremely loose It's sort of the, uh, it's behind the red rope. It's, it's extremely exclusive. And so what we're going to do is DJ Precious will, uh, be replaced just for kick-ons with DJ, uh, what's the opposite of precious?

15:52

George: Um, DJ, uh, Easygoing. Easygoing. Yeah, I'll be that DJ.

16:00

Tommy: Easy. DJ Unfazed.

16:03

George: DJ Unfazed.

16:04

Josh: DJ Unfazed is good.

16:05

Mason: There's also DJ Worthless, which does come up as an opposite.

16:13

Josh: So I really think there's so much, um, I'm just enjoying how bitchy Sevz gets. Don't you think that he's actually— might feel uncomfortable that You're being too hard on George, Sebbs.

16:27

George: No, I like it. I'm happy with it.

16:30

Mason: You like it?

16:31

George: Yeah, I love you, George. I'll be DJ Unfazed. That's my DJ Unfazed.

16:36

Tommy: Okay, Fazed.

16:37

George: Yes.

16:38

Tommy: Can you spell it? F-A-Z-E-D. F-A-Z-E-D. DJ Unfazed. I love that.

16:46

Josh: Okay, and so then what will happen is— so then the next question is like, well, yeah, you can do that. Do that offline. Okay, George. Yeah, sure, just not on here.

16:57

George: Yeah, that's pretty funny.

16:59

Josh: DJ Blase.

17:00

George: DJ Blase.

17:00

Josh: Yeah, I like that. I could imagine the hairstyle that would go with Blase. Um, so what we're going to do is we want to still be involved with kick-ons, and so every— we need to work out, is it every half an hour, every 45 minutes, every hour? We basically want to cut to the Friday night drinks kick on, and George, you control the room, you stop the music so we don't have issues with the cop— with copyright. Maybe we could even give you some royalty-free tracks. Maybe even El Monte could get played. Yeah, yeah, uh, just before we cross to you, and then everyone knows that they're about to— yeah. And so then we'll, we'll cut to you, and then you can set up some challenges for the VIPs. You could all get into a pose, you could even do some vox pops, anything like that.

17:51

George: Yeah, maybe if there's any producers who listen to the show, could they do a remix of it?

17:57

Josh: I thought El Monte was quite, uh, it's quite mixed already. It's almost ready.

18:02

Mason: It's a good pump-up.

18:04

Tommy: Yeah, it's hard to make it better.

18:06

George: Yeah. All right, um, yeah, we'll do Vox Pops and stuff like that, and, and people will, uh, you know, come on your show, and I think it'd be great.

18:16

Josh: DJ Blase. DJ Blase is very good from Crystal. Yeah, we have a Blase.

18:23

Tommy: Unfazed. I like Blase better.

18:25

Mason: Did we not just cover that a couple of minutes ago?

18:26

Josh: Did we say Blase?

18:28

Mason: George read it out.

18:30

Josh: Did you say that, George?

18:31

Tommy: I didn't hear it.

18:32

George: The attitude coming from Seb today is just—

18:34

Josh: Yeah, are you okay, Seb?

18:36

Mason: I'm feeling good. I'm feeling great.

18:41

Josh: What is the equivalent of the terrible twos when you turn 20? Do you reckon there's—

18:45

Tommy: we've hit on something? Yeah, tanti twenties.

18:48

Mason: Yeah, tanti twenties.

18:50

Josh: Yeah, anyway, sorry, sorry about that. Yeah, maybe we did mention it before, but, um, we're just doing our best, Evs. I'm sorry, George, what were you saying?

19:02

George: Oh no, um, yeah, so, so I'll be hand-selecting people to go on the show.

19:08

Tommy: Yeah, great.

19:08

George: Yeah, I think that'd be lovely. You know, they better be on your best behavior.

19:14

Josh: I think it'd be great to— I could imagine, um, we could even get some cocktail making potentially. I could imagine like a Shannon and Gem and Grace, like I, I could imagine all the Gronks. Lara, it would be great to see Lara doing some, um, espresso martinis.

19:29

George: Yeah.

19:30

Tommy: Oh, that'd be great, that'd be great. Um, love it. We also— I wouldn't mind it. So inspired by Phoebe Simmons, who we had she was in her car doing the interview with us. I'd like to jump in my car at some point, maybe like really late at night, have it off for a drive, and I could do an episode. I can do part of it while talking to you guys driving.

19:55

Josh: Could you do a Macca's run?

19:57

Mason: Oh yes, definitely.

20:00

Tommy: I could go drop off Macca's to both of you.

20:02

Josh: Oh, that would be—

20:03

Tommy: oh, I'm—

20:04

Mason: well, speaking of the food situation, What, what are we doing there?

20:09

Josh: Well, yeah, so we're trying snacks. So we've got, uh, Jess, uh, uh, our gronk who looks after, uh, our commercial, uh, you know, promotions. We've now got a commercial promotions department, sort of partnerships, what, you know, that sort of thing. We're doing quite well. And so Jess is putting together some contracts with some companies, so potentially Jess didn't say these words, but it sounds like she's going to be able to get a PS4 for me that I can play on the show.

20:39

Tommy: I mean, I, from what I read, that was probably not a no-go. The PS4? Who knows? That's never say never.

20:48

Josh: We don't know whatever the brand's gonna sort of, but it sounded like Sony was in, so that's exciting.

20:54

Tommy: Yeah, so just on the food though, Seb, one thing you can't do is have an ice cream sandwich for breakfast the morning of doing this. Like, I reckon you'd be plummeting in by 1 PM, you'd be shaking by 2 PM, 4 PM, you'd be in a, in a, in some kind of a rug shivering, um, and you'd probably be asleep by 8. Like having too much coffee, I reckon we hold off on coffee too. Did you ever do an all-nighter when you were younger? Like, yeah, before Before drugs and alcohol existed in people's worlds as kids, you know, when they're kids.

21:31

Josh: Well, I only just started drinking, but the, um, yeah, I mean, doing the drugs, I know, I've been obviously, I've been going hard on that. You've gotten really funny, haven't you?

21:43

George: Delusional.

21:43

Tommy: This is so good.

21:44

Mason: Real delusional.

21:45

Josh: Yeah, yeah.

21:47

George: Why?

21:47

Josh: I just, I don't know. Yeah, it's fine. Have you had a lot of sugar or something?

21:55

Mason: No, I— so I haven't eaten anything today yet, so.

21:57

Josh: All right, well, that's a problem. It's 2:20 PM.

22:00

Mason: 2:30, yeah, yeah, yeah.

22:01

Josh: Okay, so yeah, anyway, anyway, the, um, yeah, so, uh, staying up late. When I was in Year 10, I did the Year 10 DVD and I had 4 friends stay at my place while I, like, I needed to finish the edit. And so none of them could edit, but they all stayed in my room and took turns staying up while I edited, which I thought was fun.

22:25

Tommy: And you still— you stayed up the whole time just—

22:27

Josh: yeah, just editing it out, just getting it done. Yeah. Oh, I fucked the DVD menu. So when you press— like, it used to be— do you remember DVD menus? Oh yeah, George, did you ever have to make a DVD menu?

22:42

George: Yeah, yeah, I did actually. Remember we We made a film in year 10, me and Robbie, called Mac and Jack the Musical. It was about Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, and we got dressed into them and we did cover, like, we lip-synced. And it was like a half an hour film. And then we didn't really know what we were doing, so we exported the half an hour film as like ProRes 422 or something.

23:07

Josh: Oh no, not ProRes 422, not even LT.

23:10

George: Yeah, and it was, you know, shot on MiniDV.

23:15

Josh: And did you upscale to 1080 or what was the— yeah, what res were you rocking?

23:20

George: Yeah, I think it was like, yeah, 1080, but it was upscaled. Couldn't even fit on the disc. We had to get like a double-sided disc to try and fit it on. And then we made the menu and stuff like that. But yeah, that was probably the only time.

23:33

Josh: The menu was a nightmare. But what happened with me in year 10 was I did the whole thing and there was a place was called, um, Extreme Tech. And I remember they did, um, actual— like, there's two different types of, um, sort of DVD, um, like if you want to create DVDs, there's replication and duplication. Duplication is like a burner, replication is like stamping, it's like more legit. And for this, I got them replicated. Like, I got— it was like, you know, we got it 5 or how many, 150 DVDs or whatever. But the problem was that I fucked the menu. And so in every DVD, I had to put a little paper slip to say, hey, when you play play, nothing's going to happen. You actually need to go 3 down, press enter twice, and then press the back to go. So I went from being something that was really sort of professional to a bit of an amateur hour.

24:31

George: How much did you pay for it?

24:34

Josh: It was like, um, I'm sure it was, what it would have been, like $6 a DVD or something. Like, it was quite, um, it wasn't expensive, do you think?

24:45

Tommy: Well, when you do 150, yeah, I mean, everyone's paying them.

24:49

Josh: I think I charged $25 a DVD.

24:51

Tommy: $900? Yeah, you spent $900.

24:55

Josh: But they were legit.

24:56

Tommy: It was probably, they had probably the top price back then.

24:58

Josh: Well, I also got the, um, clear, uh, cases, and so when you opened it, you could, you would actually see the entire year level photo that I put in the case. And then I matched up the DVD photo with that, and so it would fit in perfectly. It was a real nice setup.

25:16

Tommy: We've got some great stuff in the comments. So Crystal has said, Shannon, you should make an official Gronkh cocktail list. That'd be good because Shannon was saying she loves cocktails and we need—

25:28

Josh: yeah, cocktail menu would be great.

25:30

Tommy: Yeah, cocktail. Yeah, so cocktail menu is essentially cocktail list of list of drinks. Um, and then also, uh, are we integrating a pyjama party into the May 1st 24-hour ep? We could just stay in our pyjamas for 24 hours, says Shannon, which is a great idea because I wouldn't mind to just like not have to— like right now I reckon I get uncomfortable wearing these, like I almost don't want to wear underwear.

25:56

George: Could we—

25:56

Mason: here we go. What if this is something— so Casey's asking, how can we support the Daily Talk Show during the marathon? Merch? What if we, what if we do slumber party merch?

26:07

Josh: Oh yeah, like a, like a—

26:09

Mason: what if we, we, what if we do like a real comfy t-shirt or like, I don't know, something like that that can, can be worn to the slumber party and we can wear it?

26:17

Josh: Yeah, surely if we were able to speak to, um, Dion and say— and Scooter, maybe you could help us out too negotiating this— but if we were to get some nice t-shirts, get them screen printed in the next 2 days, we could do local shipping. We could do express local shipping to a bunch of gronks in Australia, at least.

26:38

Tommy: Or at least have someone drive in Melbourne around dropping them off.

26:41

Josh: Oh, that'd be good.

26:42

Tommy: Yeah, 24 hours.

26:43

Mason: That'd be fun. We could get Ram— Ramble could get on his bike, he could be doing deliveries.

26:47

Josh: Oh, that's a good idea. Yeah, yeah, it would be good to do. I would love the merch thing. Um, save it for the show.

26:55

Mason: Crystal says beanies.

26:57

Josh: Beanies are great. Oh yeah, the, um, so would we embroider? So I guess you could do some embroidery potentially on the beanie.

27:07

Tommy: Oh, it's many ways. Could do patch.

27:09

Josh: I know it's your favourite type of content, TJ, sort of going into the detail. What colors? What do you— and what do you think it says?

27:16

Mason: On what?

27:18

Josh: The beanie. Like, if we're doing the beanie, what should we do?

27:21

Tommy: Yeah, no idea, no idea.

27:23

Mason: Casey's saying we could get some undies done.

27:28

Josh: Yeah, maybe we could get, um, is it Step One? Step One? Yeah, maybe you could do one. We could do a collab.

27:35

Mason: Step One X The Daily Talk Show.

27:37

George: How long is this going to take, you reckon? Because it's next Friday.

27:40

Josh: Yeah, I know, this is why we need to move.

27:42

Tommy: Derek says get me graphics by tonight. Okay, he said it sounds like he's got a bit of pull, or he's got some— he's Turns out he's got a whole, you know, press machine at his joint.

27:52

Josh: Yeah, it'd be good. We could do like high quality screen printing. Yeah, I reckon, why don't we do this, Sevs? Could we— I mean, what, so it's 2:30 now.

28:02

Mason: We can rush it through.

28:05

Josh: Cut off, uh, so midday tomorrow we need everyone's sizes, and if they— and basically they can do it we can put like a credit card thing, we can pay, put a form up.

28:17

Mason: Okay, we'll put a form up. It'll, it'll go out with this episode. And so once it's on the website, we can— and you can send the link through the VIP, the WhatsApp.

28:27

Josh: Yeah, okay, great. And so what we— but it's a very short— we need everyone by mid, midday tomorrow to get the ball rolling so we can get all the ANS Color product.

28:38

Mason: And so just, we need to work just to confirm, what are we But what are we— are we doing t-shirts or are we doing like— what are we doing?

28:44

Josh: Well, that's what I wanted to sort of— TJ, what do you think?

28:47

Tommy: Um, oh yeah, t-shirts are great because we did hoodies last time. I think we wanted to do t-shirts the next time.

28:56

George: Yeah.

28:56

Josh: Okay, Shannon says DHL or something. Yeah. Um, what are we ordering?

29:02

Mason: T-shirts?

29:02

Josh: Grace, Grace, what do you think? What would you like? We could, um Because if the other thing is—

29:09

Mason: yeah, trackies, trackies would be fun.

29:13

Josh: So the one option is that we could do is if we do the same graphic, we can actually give two options. So we could do a, a t-shirt and a crew neck, so like a crew neck jumper style thing. And so then we can have basically two stock, it's the same graphic for both And then you can choose whether you want the t-shirt option or the crew neck jumper option. I think that could work.

29:39

Mason: Okay, everyone's saying t-shirt at the moment, so.

29:43

Tommy: Yeah, well, it's still fucking hot. Looks hot up in Brisbane and Queensland and up near your mum's, George. Saw Emma Lang at the beach, geez.

29:52

Josh: Yeah, it looks beautiful.

29:53

Tommy: Still hot, still hot.

29:55

Josh: Grace, I'm sure if we were, we could, Grace is saying probably won't get to WA in time though, sad face. I think we can.

30:03

Mason: When are they getting—

30:03

Josh: Can you make it happen?

30:06

Mason: Yeah, I mean, it's just— we need to commit from the outset. Well, look, if it depends on the production, but if we can get the production done and picked up Tuesday afternoon and we can dispatch Tuesday, I reckon we can express it to WA and have it there before we go live. Okay, so we need, we need that, we need that 24 hours, less than 24-hour turnaround on the t-shirts, otherwise Yeah, and what are we saying on the t-shirts?

30:32

Josh: TJ, you've had some pushback on just the Daily Talk Show logo previously. Like, do we want to do something where it's like Gronkh or just the Daily Talk Show?

30:42

Tommy: I got those made for us before we went to LA. The Daily Talk Show and also Gronkh Squad.

30:48

Josh: George, what do you think? The Gronkh Squad one? How about the one that, um, uh, 3D Dill made? Gronkh Squad, Gronkh Squad, Gronkh Squad. I mean, I would love the Daily Talk Show mentioned somewhere, but I, uh, but you know, we don't have to. It's probably too much to do a— but we need to do a front, just no back, you know, like I straight away go into— maybe we could do some sort of inner tag thing or maybe something on the sleeve, but I think we need to stick to one chest.

31:18

George: If it's the logo, I reckon smaller, not covering the whole front too much.

31:22

Josh: Okay, too much.

31:23

Tommy: And do we want like one like our current jumpers?

31:25

Josh: Do we go maybe just a little—

31:27

Mason: yeah, the long one. No, I'd like the long one. Maybe we don't go square, maybe we keep the long and just— it's like—

31:32

Josh: oh yeah, so Shannon's saying nah, just the logo, you bloody gronks. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's good.

31:37

Tommy: Shannon is saying keep it simple, use DHL, stop fucking around. All right, that's essentially what she said. The variance, the variance from this one, Josh, is is that it's going to be the wide. The thing is though, it needs to be smaller because when these are on smalls, it's still the same size because one screen print is the same size. They don't have varied screen print, varied sizes within the screen print.

32:02

Josh: What do you think about— to go super quick, we could actually use the, um, the— what are they called? What are screen printing— the plates or whatever it's called? What's the we could use the current plate that we have of the Daily Talk Show logo on the crewneck jumpers because I think that size is very good for jumpers. And then we can do a smaller one for the t-shirts, potentially depending on stock. If Grace was to order a crewneck, she might be able to get it quicker because we can use the existing plates that have to be made.

32:35

Tommy: I think you— if you want it done by Friday, you're going to eliminate two different type— two garments. It has to be one, just logistically one garment.

32:43

Mason: I'm even, I'm even thinking mid, midday tomorrow is quite difficult in terms of like, dude, is that long enough? Like, sorry, as if we want to shorten that.

32:54

Josh: Well, we can, but I'm just worried about— you didn't charge GST, you nearly brought down the whole fucking business last time you did those hoodies.

33:00

Mason: Well, that's a— we test and learn.

33:03

Tommy: It's always a nightmare.

33:03

Josh: And so you're going to be able to add GST?

33:06

Mason: Well, I'm sure if Gravity Forms can, then we can easily do that.

33:09

Josh: Okay, so we need to blaj our web gronk onto the case. So we need to get— we basically need to get it up today.

33:17

Mason: Yeah, it needs to be up today. Yeah, absolutely. After this episode, it needs to be up.

33:21

Tommy: Um, the, the missing piece here is, uh, Scooter Derek's relationship with the person who can do screen printing.

33:30

Josh: While you, while you start it has to be Derek that has that conversation.

33:34

Tommy: Yeah, we don't have enough pull.

33:36

Josh: Yeah, I think we can get it done. Like, I love Dion. I know, but we love him. He's been a huge supporter.

33:44

Tommy: Also broke his balls many times.

33:46

Josh: He's on Easy Street, a great business, While You Sleep. Um, yeah, I think we can definitely make it happen. It's happening. I've actually— I've just got a message from Dion. Yeah, he's cool with it. I think that's what he's saying. We'll chat to Ryan John tomorrow, 'cause let's not blow our load completely.

34:02

Tommy: Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.

34:03

Josh: But—

34:03

Tommy: Yeah, great, great.

34:05

Mason: You know what I am— I know, you go.

34:07

Josh: Well, so what we decided on, TJ, I think that what we'll do after this, I'll call Scooter. We need to find out from Dion what would he prefer. Do we just do the one garment or do we do the two? The reason I also say the one garment is what we might find is he might have you know, 20 crewneck jumpers in stock or something. Do we want all— I'm guessing we just go black for ease.

34:32

Tommy: Yeah, that looks great.

34:33

Josh: And so there, we'll do the black and then we can do the t-shirts. We'll just see what he's got available in stock. We'll then, once we know stock numbers, and then we can get, get him to advise us, do we want the same size or do we want smaller? T-shirt, I think, makes sense, TJ, that we do go the smaller option. To allow for smaller t-shirts?

34:54

George: Just on the side, yeah, on the left.

34:56

Tommy: Yeah, it has to be new.

34:57

Josh: Yeah, so, okay, so you're thinking—

34:59

Mason: so you want to go—

35:00

Josh: you go really small in the middle?

35:02

George: Yeah, just like a little— on just like a front pocket logo kind of thing. That's what I reckon.

35:06

Josh: And so are you okay with the crew neck being the size TJ Show— your, your one? Are you cool with the crew neck being sort of that size, that being the jumper, crew neck jumper?

35:18

George: If it was up to me, it'd be probably the same as the t-shirt, but okay, it's your show.

35:23

Josh: That could be easy.

35:24

Tommy: When we got these done, I never told him the size. I just said roughly, and he did.

35:29

George: That's what they recommend.

35:29

Tommy: You could go half the size of this in the center.

35:31

Mason: Okay, we've done a great job. Um, Scooter says he's going to cheque the stock, um, this morning, and then he wants us to get the sizes in orders.

35:40

Josh: Well, Scooter's absolutely cool because currently 2:36 PM. So, um, anyway, when we said morning Shannon, it really got it. All right, this is exciting. So we'll have merch, we can take photos, we can get all around it. The 24-hour show, if you want to be part of the crew, if you can support in any way, whether that's you'll come on the show and chat, or you live in Melbourne and you want to ride your bike around like Ramble, or You might be someone who is technically capable, who could help us with troubleshooting with guests before they come on, all that sort of stuff. That's all happening. I think that's about it.

36:21

Tommy: Can we have one of them on? Because they've done epic 48 or 40—

36:27

Josh: 56 maybe?

36:29

Mason: 56, 52 or 56 hour livestreams. Yeah.

36:32

Josh: What are you going to say, Chris?

36:34

Mason: I was about to say, can we call Venture IP midway through the live stream?

36:39

Josh: Yeah, we can. Late at night to do a bit of—

36:41

Mason: 3 o'clock in the morning.

36:43

Josh: Well, is there 24-hour support?

36:44

Mason: 24-hour support. So if we can call them in the morning, then we can see if they're actually there.

36:50

Josh: Yeah, I enjoy that. I think that'd be great. Um, yeah.

36:54

Tommy: And so as long as it's not a sting operation, turns out they're not. Yeah, we found out.

36:58

Josh: No, I don't Okay, so 7 AM start on Friday.

37:02

George: Yeah, George, should we talk about what the next week of shows is going to look like, or—

37:07

Josh: Oh yes, so, so the week after, do we— should we talk about what's happening the week after? Is that what you mean, George?

37:13

George: Yeah, that's what I'm—

37:14

Josh: yeah, yeah. So you can announce it, George. What's, what's going to be happening, uh, after the 24-hour stream?

37:21

George: So the 24-hour stream is going to go till, yeah, Saturday, 7 AM. The boys are going to be rooted, so they won't be awake. On this week, I'm going to be putting together the best of my favourite bits of the last 700 episodes as 2 hour-long episodes that will get released on Saturday and Sunday.

37:43

Josh: Mm-hmm. And straight after the livestream. So the first one will probably hit at midday or something like that on Saturday.

37:51

George: Yeah, correct. So, so that'll be like, you know, those two episodes covered Saturday and Sunday.

37:57

Josh: And you'll be hosting them, right? You'll be doing a little sort of intro and sort of editorialising for us, hosting them, talking about little bits.

38:04

George: You know, it might go back to the early days where it was just audio, um, little stories, you know, Mason's first day on the job, that sort of thing.

38:13

Josh: Great.

38:13

George: And then, um, so that's for the Saturday and Sunday. And then from Monday till the Sunday, it's going to be one show a day from snippets from the 24-hour show.

38:30

Josh: So with you hosting as well, it'll basically be the Daily George Show.

38:37

George: Correct. Yeah, yeah, which is what I've always wanted.

38:39

Tommy: So, you know, yeah.

38:42

Josh: And so, um, I think it'd be fun to get Gronks involved in some way. Um, if you email george@thedailytalkshow.com, if you've got any sort of snippets that you want to see him include, or you've got any sort of insights, or maybe you've got a piece of audio or video, can they send you an email?

39:00

George: Yeah, if you've got your favourite bit of the last 700 episodes, um, send it through. Uh, although I don't have that email set up, so yeah, you do.

39:09

Josh: Well, if you've got a big media— Yeah, yeah, it's a secondary domain. Oh, my eye is twitching like there's no tomorrow.

39:17

Mason: Imagine after 24 hours, it's gonna be a nightmare.

39:20

Tommy: Um, oh yeah, there's gonna be some awards. Who loses their voice first? Who has the first blow-up? Uh, first tantrum?

39:28

Josh: Josh and I. Yeah, I mean, Sebs, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna have to speak to Grace about the, the two nights before?

39:36

Mason: Yeah. Oh yeah, dude, I reckon, I reckon, yeah, I'm gonna have to, I'm gonna have to dial in my sleep. I mean, the other thing is what I've found really handy is the stuff that Jem has brought around. Like, are we gonna— is Jem gonna help us out in terms of like skincare and stuff?

39:50

Josh: Yeah, we'll get Jem to do a full sort of face mask experience.

39:53

Mason: We could like, yeah, all like the puffy eye stuff, we could definitely sort that out, surely.

40:00

George: Yeah.

40:01

Josh: Jordan Michaelides says Josh will have a panic attack, yes or yes. It would be good to get Michaelides on. Love to have a punch on with Michael Eades mid-show. That'd be a bit of fun.

40:13

Mason: Yeah, Uber Russ is offering his services, by the way.

40:16

Josh: Oh, this is great.

40:17

Tommy: Oh yes, Uber Russ, Uber Russ.

40:19

Mason: Uber Russ.

40:19

Tommy: Oh man, I'm pumped with this, um, Ryan John thing. I really want to find out what it is and why you hate it.

40:28

Josh: Okay, let's chat about it.

40:30

Tommy: Whatever it is, we have to go with it. Okay, because I don't know. But just make a pact, we'll go with it.

40:36

Josh: Gem is—

40:36

Mason: are we doing it on—

40:37

Josh: okay, what were you gonna say?

40:40

Mason: Are we— no, just, just on the Rian Johnson thing. If it's— we can— like you said, we're gonna keep a pact. So we're gonna do it on air, or—

40:48

Tommy: yeah, we're gonna hear it on air and then, um, okay, great. He's a content guy, he knows it'll be something great.

40:53

Josh: Great, okay, good enough for Josh.

40:56

Mason: Josh will be fine.

40:58

Josh: And okay, so, um, the, the merch Just, this is like a fucking meeting. So success definition of done, all that sort of thing. I'm going to chat, I'm going to call Scooter straight away.

41:10

Mason: Um, Sevs, you're going to work on, um, I'll work with Blahj and we can get the, um, the little site thing ready to go.

41:19

Josh: What about, um, design, like the, the design? Do we just get While You Sleep to look after that? And we just, from a sizing perspective of, are we going I think for the crew neck we go big or go home. So I think we go the same size as the current hoodie. Yes or no?

41:35

Tommy: If they've still got it. If they only— if they've still got it, they hold on to all those.

41:39

Josh: And so the crew neck will be big. And then let's— I'll chat to, um, Scooter about the possibility of doing the smaller, um, uh, left chest or right side of the chest. It would be the left side of your chest.

41:53

Tommy: Well, Shannon's sending through— I wasn't sold on that idea that George had. Um, it's—

41:59

George: sorry, George, stand up for yourself, Tommy.

42:01

Tommy: Oh mate, I am, I am. Wasn't sold on it, buddy.

42:05

George: Um, all right, what do you want?

42:06

Tommy: Yeah, well, that's huge. No, no, no, it was just about the positioning, like on a, on a side.

42:13

Josh: I think in the middle and small will look dumb.

42:15

Tommy: Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, great. Oh, oh, that is great. Yeah, Saint Laurent. Shannon sent through a design. Saint Laurent do a do a really small logo just like centred to the t-shirt.

42:30

George: Yeah, it's just that.

42:31

Tommy: But it just looks—

42:33

Josh: ah yeah, it's just—

42:34

Tommy: where does that— it's a bit different. So it'd be like—

42:37

Josh: I wonder how that would go for logo though, to be honest. I think if it was just text, if it just said Gronk, it would look good. I think that it would look like a mistake.

42:45

Tommy: Oh, you know what, you should just put the title, sporting club.

42:48

Josh: Okay, well, we are sort of— we've got that vibe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

42:52

Tommy: What, you're going playing around the golf, are you, Jordan?

42:54

George: I mean, everyone's saying side, so—

42:59

Tommy: well, look, I'm not going to argue with the majority if that's what's happened.

43:03

George: If you want side, you want side, you're going to have a look at it.

43:05

Tommy: No, no, this is— they'll mock it up, they'll mock it up anyway.

43:08

Josh: What about the logo in a circle, asks Casey? Oh yeah, it sounds like— you just need to worry about like, we can't add an extra—

43:18

Mason: I mean, we've got to find positioning. We gotta dial in the position before we figure it— like, I think, I think potentially a circle might be overcomplicating it a little bit.

43:28

Tommy: Oh, it's actually out of brand guidelines according to Dill's, uh, yeah, branding package.

43:33

Josh: Yeah, I mean, Gronkh would be nice. There was the one idea that I had which was like Gronkh big text, and then you actually have like the logo in it in some sort of interesting way, but it requires a little— if we've got any designers listening— No, that sounds horrendous, I reckon, because the Gronk— unless it's G-R-O-N-K. No, it could work because the O is in the middle, so you could definitely— we could try it, try that. TJ, is this detail— is this level of detail?

44:03

Tommy: I just—

44:04

Mason: we're in the weeds.

44:05

Tommy: Yeah, yeah, less is more, definitely. We can just run with what we've had. That's not being lazy, that's just being efficient to get it done.

44:13

George: People are gonna fire if that's the goal.

44:15

Josh: Is that really sort of your brand value, George? Yeah, people's gonna buy it.

44:19

Mason: People are gonna buy it, doesn't matter.

44:21

Josh: We're not doing it for money, George, you know that.

44:24

George: Make a bit of cash from it.

44:26

Josh: Oh yeah, we haven't even started talking about pricing. We'll work out pricing, we'll speak to Dion because we'll do it at very sort of a reasonable price because we realize—

44:36

Mason: As long as we don't lose cash.

44:38

Josh: Yeah, 'cause we did last time because you sucked at reading.

44:40

Tommy: Like last time, Sam.

44:42

Mason: I've got it, I've— no, I've got it now. I've got it dialled in. I reckon I'll be able to do it and we shouldn't lose cash.

44:48

Josh: And can we make sure that we only have one form so we don't have what happened last time where half the orders—

44:52

Mason: Yeah, well, so that was a size problem. So am I going just in terms of sizes? I'll just go X, X, X.

44:56

Josh: We'll go all the way. No, go all the sizes. We don't need to limit.

45:02

Mason: Discriminate.

45:02

Josh: Yeah. Well, literally last time you did small, medium, and large. You have no idea about—

45:06

Mason: No, I did it. I did to XL and then that's it.

45:10

Josh: So, well, I think we just make it all available, right? Okay, it's a daily talk show. Happy 700, everyone. Um, all right, George, this is your moment. Um, here's the— we know you were joking about not having the highlights bit, so go for it.

45:24

Tommy: Oh yeah, hit it, George.

45:25

George: Um, hit it. All right, the celebration is the next week.

45:33

Josh: Yeah, that'll be huge. Can you really— can you wear a different shirt every episode to sort of celebrate, you know?

45:42

George: Yeah, sure.

45:42

Josh: Yes, because you've got some pretty nice shirts.

45:45

Mason: Casey's just written, give us the option to pay what we want to support the show.

45:50

Tommy: Yeah, oh, that would be great.

45:51

Mason: That's interesting. So if we set a baseline so we don't lose cash, because the gronks, some of the gronks, and then the gronk move would be paying below cost. No, no, but you said a minimum, but yeah, there would be the biggest gronk move. Take us out of business.

46:06

Josh: Yeah, that'll be nice. Yeah, the lentil is anything model. Yeah, yeah, maybe we could do, um, maybe there could be something where you— what was that?

46:14

George: So can't you just have like a tips button or something?

46:16

Josh: Yeah, it's— I mean, we're getting into the semantics, but another thing we could do is maybe we could be like, if you go over the retail price, you can put in a dare or something, or like you can add something to the show. I don't know, that could be fun.

46:30

George: Yeah, yeah, that's Patreon kind of scales.

46:33

Mason: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we might have to— we might have to flesh this out offline.

46:37

Josh: Tommy is absolutely having a meltdown now. What do you think of the Patreon?

46:42

Tommy: All I say is get on the phone to Scooter. Yeah, we'll do that right now.

46:46

Josh: Okay, all right.

46:47

Mason: Okay, great.

46:48

Josh: It's a daily talk show. Uh, thank you, Nick, for your, uh, your podcast review. What did— what did Nick say, Sevs?

46:53

Mason: Uh, Nick said, uh, awesome podcast. Josh and Tommy have an effortless ability to move from entertaining interviews with interesting people to deep conversation on big issues and to fun banter. Them and their revolving door of friends keep the podcast fun and interesting day after day. The community of gronks they have built around the podcast are a testament to the hard work and endless fun content that they put into the show. 5 stars.

47:18

Josh: Thank you, Nick Callan.

47:20

Tommy: Super review for episode.

47:21

Mason: Love you, Nick.

47:22

George: Thanks.

47:23

Josh: Love you, Nick. All right, thanks everyone. Uh, was that about Monopoly with Jake?

47:28

Mason: No, no, no, no, no, that was, um, that was just around the best dressed for, um, he's had a hard time. Poor bloke.

47:35

Josh: Yeah, I mean, but it looked great. Yeah, let's not take away from that. Okay, all right, I'm gonna go call Scooter. It's a daily talk show. See you tomorrow, guys. Have a good one.

47:45

Tommy: See you guys.
